Dr. Muktesh Daund

Consultant Psychiatrist and De-addiction Specialist  Nashik

Most people who reach my consulting room have waited too long.

Not out of carelessness — usually the opposite. They tried to manage it themselves. Then they tried harder. Then somebody in the family said the word “psychiatrist” out loud and the room went quiet for a moment.

By the time a family walks into Thatte Nagar, they’ve often done a year of rounds. A physician. Blood tests that came back normal. Someone’s cousin who knew someone. I’m not criticising any of that. It’s what’s available when nobody has ever explained what a psychiatrist actually does.

So this page is my attempt to explain it before you have to ask.

Training & credentials

Dr. Daund completed his MBBS at Dr. V. M. Government Medical College, Solapur (2009), and earned his DNB in Psychiatry from the LGB Regional Institute of Mental Health, Tezpur, Assam (2015) — one of India’s institutes of national importance in mental health. During his training he gained dedicated de-addiction experience at NIMHANS, Bengaluru, in the unit of Prof. Pratima Murthy, one of India’s foremost addiction researchers.

Dr. Daund practises at NIMS Multispecialty Hospital, Gangapur Road, Nashik, where psychiatric care is offered alongside the hospital's other specialties — allowing coordinated treatment when mental and physical health overlap. His outpatient and inpatient work covers:

A Supportive & Understanding Approach

“My working principle is simple: a psychiatrist who sits across from you, not above you. Most people arrive at a psychiatrist’s door years later than they should — held back by stigma, not by symptoms. So the consultation begins with unhurried listening, moves to a clear explanation of what is happening in the brain and why, and ends with a treatment plan the patient and the family actually understand and can follow. Mental illness is medical, common, and treatable — and asking for help is a strength.”
